APN To Adopt A Presidential Candidate Soon – Princess Gambari-Edewor

The chairperson of Alternative Party of Nigeria (APN), Princess Bilkisu Gambari-Edewor has said that her party will soon adopt one of the 79 presidential candidates announced by Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) on Friday.

Princess Gambari stated this Friday evening in an exclusive interview with the online news platform, CHECKPOINTCHARLEY.

According to her, the National Working Committee (NWC) of APN and its Board of Trustees will meet and decide on which of the candidates to support after a diligent consideration of what they are offering.

“Like I have said before, in 2019, we will not be fielding a presidential candidate.

“The task before us now in APN is to build the party and make it attractive to Nigerians, especially youths, who have already embarced APN as their party.

” We also need to support those contesting on APN’s platform for the National and regional legislatures, as well as state governors.

“This is our focus in the APN at the moment; we will see what happens in 2023,” Princess Gambari-Edewor said.

Menawhile, the chairman of INEC, Mahmood Yakubu, on Friday revealed during a press briefing with journalists at the headquarters of the commission in Abuja that, apart from the 79 presidential candidates, 89 parties fielded 1,803 candidates for the 109 senatorial seats and 4,548 for the 350 federal constituencies.

He promised to make available a breakdown of the candidates and their parties soon.

Notable among the presidential candidates are, President Muhammadu Buhari of the APC, former Vice-President Atiku Abubakar of the PDP, Obadiah Mailafia of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), and former Governor Donald Duke of the Social Democratic Party (SDP).
